Get Ready Now for the 2026 Summit Racing E.T. Finals Presented by Hoosier Racing Tire.
Your focus when you arrive at the E.T. Finals should be simple: enjoying time with friends and family, winning rounds, earning the $3,000 in travel money to Las Vegas, and taking home the 75th Anniversary Wally.
That means checking a few important boxes before you ever leave for the racetrack.
Competitors should make sure their NHRA membership and competition license are current, that they have the appropriate E.T. license for their category, and that any required chassis certifications are current before heading to the Summit Racing E.T. Finals presented by Hoosier Racing Tire.
Most importantly, do not wait until race weekend to take care of your licensing. Get started now so you can arrive ready to race.
RENEWING YOUR NHRA LICENSE
If your NHRA competition license has expired within the last two years and no medical, passes, or signatures are required, complete your renewal paperwork and submit it to NHRA Licensing.
Paperwork may be emailed to licensing@nhra.com or mailed to the California or Indiana address listed on the appropriate license application.

HAS YOUR LICENSE BEEN EXPIRED FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS?
If your NHRA competition license has been expired for more than two years, you will need to complete the licensing process as if you are a new NHRA applicant.
Don't wait until the week of your E.T. Finals to begin the process. Review the requirements, complete your paperwork, and submit everything as soon as possible.
TRANSFERRING FROM IHRA TO NHRA?
Racers transferring a current competition license from IHRA will need to complete the NHRA licensing process and provide the required documentation.
Before submitting your application, make sure you have:
Completed Sections 1 through 3 and Section 4 of the application.
Completed two full passes in the class for which you are seeking an NHRA license. Both passes must have been completed within the past 12 months.
Recorded the date, location, E.T., and MPH from those passes as Run 5 and Run 6 on your application.
Obtained validation signatures for Run 5 and Run 6 from one NHRA licensed driver of an equal or higher class and one NHRA Track Official.
Made sure both full passes meet the minimum E.T. and MPH standards for the requested class.
Included a copy of your current IHRA or WDRA competition license. The license must be active and current. Expired licenses are not eligible for transfer.
Included your completed application, time slips, applicable physical exam form, and payment when submitting your paperwork to NHRA.
New drivers applying for Level 1 or Level 2 licenses may also be required to complete one or two additional single qualifying runs at an NHRA Championship type event before entering competition.
MAILING YOUR LICENSING PAPERWORK
If your application and supporting documents must be mailed, send everything to the appropriate NHRA address listed on your licensing paperwork and consider using a trackable shipping method.
Do not send licensing paperwork the Division Office for processing, as doing so may delay your application.
With E.T. Finals approaching, getting everything to NHRA Licensing as soon as possible gives you the best opportunity to have your credentials handled before race weekend.
DON'T FORGET YOUR CHASSIS CERTIFICATION
Your license isn't the only thing to check before you tow.
If your race car requires an NHRA chassis certification, check the expiration date now. If you need a new certification, contact your local NHRA Division Office to find an upcoming chassis certification opportunity.
The goal is simple: take care of the paperwork before you leave home so that when you arrive at the E.T. Finals, you're ready to race.
